Rambling on down to… Planet of Sound
Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 04/05/2022 (397 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
I had some dealings with Planet of Sound on Henderson Highway a few years back and really enjoyed their professionalism.
I had been in the store a few times before and if you’re into vinyl records or music in general you’ve got to visit them.
So, when I ran across Planet of Sound on Facebook (www.facebook.com/planetofsound) I just knew I had to introduce them to you.
So, I’ll turn most of the telling, as is my column modus operandi, to Mr. David Wright to fill in the details.
“Yes, I am the owner of Planet of Sound. Cathie is the store manager,” David wrote.
“This is the first and only location in Winnipeg, we have been at this same spot since November 2000. We love the area and feel connected to the community and have no plans to move. Our last expansion was done in 2020 by creating www.planetofsound.ca — it was done not only out of necessity, but out of customer demand for previewing and shopping online. We currently list all our new records on the website,” he wrote.
“Vinyl is a very large part of our DNA, but we have been big film fans since the beginning, stocking movie media (DVD, Blu-Ray, 4K) since Day 1. We love chatting about movies and music!”
I’ll digress a bit now…I enquired about selling a rather large collection of VHS tapes from my personal collection and, sadly, they don’t buy VHS tapes. So, if anyone reading this column does, email me ASAP and we can chat! Now back to Mr. Wright…
“(We’d) just to say a big thank you to all the customers (and family) that have shopped with us over the last two years. It has been a difficult time for small business, but our fantastic customer base has been very supportive and kind to us during the pandemic. Kindness has always been a part of our business motto — we try to follow the Golden Rule…treat others how you would like to be treated!
“Kinda cheesy, but it works.”
Yes it does, David. Yes it does.
