New Sage Creek schools are coming

Access to education in our community has always been of the utmost importance to me. Right from the start, I promised to fight for the additional schools necessary in our area to accommodate the ever increasing amount of students. I am pleased to inform you that we have begun to fulfill that goal with the announcement that a tender for the construction of a new kindergarten to Grade 8 school in Sage Creek has been issued.
Design work on the Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine (DSFM) school, which will accommodate 450 students, began in April 2022. The construction of this school will enable the Manitoba government to provide the education and child-care services that Sage Creek residents need. The school will include 18 classrooms, a gymnasium and multi-purpose space, and a life skills, resource and guidance suite. The capacity includes two cohorts of kindergarten to Grade 8 classrooms plus a 74-space daycare program. The school is scheduled to open in September 2024.
In addition to this new DSFM school, as part of the Manitoba government’s guarantee to build 20 new schools in 10 years, there will soon be the addition of a Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) kindergarten to Grade 8 school in Sage Creek. The announcement of the upcoming construction of these two new schools has long been awaited, and again, I am pleased to have been able to fulfill this promise to you, my community, my friends and my neighbours.
