Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 03/05/2023 (1055 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
Geese are returning home, puddles are replacing snowbanks and people are out for leisurely walks in the warmer weather, all signs spring has arrived. Not only is it a time for the Earth to reset, but a chance for everyone to dust off the winter grime and salt and get ready for summer.
Community clean-ups and yard sale notices have started to pop up. People are eager to get outside and clean their yards and help clean up their communities. There are many opportunities to grab a garbage bag and pick up the strewn garbage along walkways, ditches, and parks. It’s a great way to meet neighbors and contribute to a clean environment.
Springtime also means greenhouses are open again. Seine River is very fortunate to be home to many greenhouses, which offer a variety of plants, flowers, shrubs, trees and planters, and all gardening supplies. Take some time to visit a greenhouse and learn some helpful tips and tricks from gardening experts. What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than a gift of flowers from a local nursery?

The SNAC will use a grant from the arts, culture and sport in community fund to preserve and renovate its building and to acquire new and updated equipment to enhance programs and service
Spring also ushers in a host of school activities, notably the St. Norbert Collegiate spring play. Thank you to Ms. Archibald and her students for an amazing performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The props, musical performances, and acting had the audience cheering, applauding, and laughing. Congratulations on a performance well done!

Some great local organizations within the constituency recently received funding through the arts, culture and sport in community fund (ACSC).
The St. Vital Mustangs Football Club, St. Norbert Arts Centre and the Gurdwara Guru Nanak Mission Centre all received funding to assist with their projects.
The Mustangs funding will go to complete their turf-field development project, by specifically finishing the landscaping, fencing, and painting. The SNAC will use its funds to preserve and renovate its building and to acquire new and updated equipment to enhance programs and services.
Finally, the Gurdwara will use the funds to offset some of the renovations to its existing facility, create a recreational space, and update the kitchen.
The ACSC grant fund is open to all community members. Visit www.gov.mb.ca/acsc for information on the various grants available.
