I have been honoured to serve as your MLA over the past seven years. During that time, I have always been fighting for our community. Over the past three years alone, I obtained nearly three-quarters of a million dollars in funding to benefit community organizations which make life better for those who reside here.
In 2020, I obtained a $55,000 funding grant for the Island Lakes Residents’ Group’s construction of the SEIG pathway project, the paved pathway from Seigneurie Park in Island Lakes that connects to the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Hwy. 59 and Sage Creek Boulevard. In the same year, I also secured $75,000 for Save Our Seine’s construction of the accessible dock at John Bruce Park. In 2022, I acquired a funding grant of $37,000 for the Sage Creek Residents’ Association’s expansions of Ron Duhamel Park, which includes a covered deck enclosure and a new piece of accessibility playground equipment.
This year has been a banner year for both funding and other important new projects coming to our community. In March, I obtained $375,000 of funding for Living Prairie Childcare’s expansion project through the Early Child Care Building Fund. This new facility, launched on March 22, is providing Sage Creek and the surrounding area with an additional 60 new childcare spaces — 20 for preschool and 40 for school-age children. In the same month, I also acquired $200,000 for the SCRA’s fitness pump track project, which is slated to begin construction later this year. Last month, I acquired $60,000 for the ILRG to construct a covered picnic shelter at Waterfront Park, which will also begin construction in a few months.

Education is paramount, and after years of fighting for the residents of Sage Creek and Bonavista, two new K-8 schools are breaking ground in this summer; one for the Louis Riel School Division, the other for Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine — both which dramatically increase the capacity of student spaces available to local residents. These schools also bring the added bonus of 148 childcare care spaces.
Traffic is always an issue, so in order to alleviate congestion in our community, we have recently announced that an interchange will be constructed at St. Anne’s Road and the Perimeter Highway. This will also make travel much safer for everyone, which is of the utmost importance.
I wish you all a very safe and happy summer!
