Summer is here, and what a great one it’s been so far. Warm weather has made it the perfect time to spend with family and friends. It is also a time for new projects to begin construction.

Over the past seven years, I have fought hard to bring projects to our community that have, and will have, a huge positive impact on our lives. From education and infrastructure to residents’-association and neighbourhood-upkeep projects, I have made sure that these projects were, and will continue to be, funded by our government for the enhancement and safety of our community. I have made a list of these projects, and the total funding they have received below:

Large capital projects totalling over $400 million:

• A new Louis Riel School Division K-8 French-immersion school commencing construction this summer in Sage Creek, which includes 74 additional child-care spaces; -A new Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine K-8 French school commencing construction this year in Sage Creek, which includes 74 additional child-care spaces;

• A new interchange for the Perimeter Highway at St. Mary’s Road, currently under construction;

• A new interchange for the Perimeter Highway at St. Anne’s Road, slated to commence construction this year.

Small capital projects totalling over $3 million:

• Grant for Save Our Seine (SOS) urban restoration and enhancement pilot project -Grant for Island Lakes Residents’ Group’s covered picnic shelter at Waterfront Park;

• Grant for Sage Creek Residents’ Association’s fitness pump track project;

• Funding for Living Prairie Childcare’s new facility expansion providing 60 additional spaces;

• Grant for SCRA’s Ron Duhamel Park enhancement project;

• Grant for ILRG’s Seigneurie Park SEIG pathway construction;

• Grant for the construction of SOS’ accessibility dock at John Bruce Park off the Seine River;

• Grant for J.H. Bruns Collegiate’s parents advisory council community theatre upgrade campaign;

• Multiple Green Team grants for SCRA;

• Multiple Green Team grants for Meadowood Manor personal care home;

• Grant for Niakwa Place School PAC‘s community kitchen; -Grant for ILRG’s outdoor fitness equipment at Lindsey Wilson Park;

• Funding for the construction of two new classrooms at École Guyot.
