I can hardly express the immense gratitude I’ve felt over the past year for my neighbours in Kirkfield Park.
On the campaign trail, I had engaging conversations with many of you folks, and I thank you for sharing your wisdom, insight, and generosity with me and my team. I hope to continue this spirit of collaboration and conversation in my new role as MLA for Kirkfield Park. Whether you’ve reached out to my office or stopped me for an informal conversation as we go about our days, your thoughtful comments, critical engagement, and commitment to our community move me. It is truly an honour to represent you in our Manitoba Legislature.
Our government has been taking action to start fixing health care, including at the Grace Hospital. Tackling a chronically understaffed and underfunded health care system takes time and dedication. But in my work with our team, health minister Uzoma Asagwara, and Premier Wab Kinew, I have seen that our government is committed to listening to health care workers and fixing what’s broken, together.

Logan Oxenham, MLA for Kirkfield Park, and Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care Minister Uzoma Asagwara announced in November that the Manitoba government will add 31 new acute beds at Grace Hospital.
For the past decade, the Grace Hospital’s emergency room has taken on patient loads appropriate for a hospital many times its size. I have been astonished by the dedication of its nurses, doctors, healthcare aides, and other professionals who go above and beyond daily to serve west Winnipeg and the surrounding area. Every day, I stand in awe of their unwavering commitment to help fellow Manitobans.
I know from conversations with people in our neighbourhood that many of us are worried about the impacts seven years of cuts and mismanagement have had on health care here in west Winnipeg. You want to know that you or your loved one will be able to get the care you need when you need it.
That’s why we’re taking action — adding 31 new acute care beds at the Grace so we can add capacity and improve wait times, and listening to health care experts as we work to keep improving our health care here and across the province. Together, we can start to fix our health care.
Please reach out to my office if you want to talk about health care or connect on any other issue important to you. You can reach me at logan.oxenham@yourmanitoba.ca
