Amid the work of setting up our new Manitoba government, Lisa, the kids and I took time to be with each other. Together, we reflected on the big changes that the last year brought, and all that we have to look forward to this year.
Last month we welcomed you back to the Manitoba legislature, the people’s building for the holiday open house. It was a fantastic day to connect with you, the people of Manitoba. Hearing your stories and experiences amplified the hope so many of us are feeling these days.
Something special is happening in Manitoba. I felt it at the open house and across the province. More Manitobans than ever before are embracing a message of unity and working together to build a positive future for our province.

A group of students from Beausejour were invited to try out the premier’s chair and chat with Wab Kinew iduring a visit to the Manitoba legislature on Dec. 15.
I’ve seen this shift in every corner of Manitoba — when I met with farmers in rural Manitoba, when we heard from front-line workers in the early hours of their shifts at the Grace Hospital, and when I’ve met with business leaders who are standing up projects in Winnipeg. And I see the same energy right here in Fort Rouge.
I’ve been impressed by the many fantastic events being held across our community. On Jan. 21, the Riverview Community Centre will host its annual Frostbite River Run on the ice of the Red River. Clearly “giving back” is in our nature as Manitobans, as all proceeds will support public programming at Riverview C.C.
We’re grateful for the many warm wishes received over the holiday season, and we’re ready to face the challenges and opportunities of 2024.
Our renewed commitment to work for you began on day one of the new year. Manitobans will now save 14 cents a litre every time they head to the pump, easing an affordability crisis felt by families across the province. We deserve to focus on the joy of being together during the holidays, not worrying about whether the next paycheck will cover the bills.
In November, I encouraged Manitobans to strike up a conversation with me, either through my constituency office or when we ran into each other on the street. I’ve been humbled by neighbours from both near and far who’ve stopped to share their thoughtful and constructive ideas with me over the past months.
Our work as your government is shaped by your stories and your experiences. I want to keep these conversations going.
Feel free to drop by my constituency office at 2-565 Osborne Street, calls us at 204-615-1922, or email me at wab.kinew@yourmanitoba.ca
Let’s continue to work together and for each other in this new year.
