As summer begins and the 2024 graduations have been celebrated, with graduates embarking on their next steps, I am excited for the upcoming months in McPhillips.
I am thrilled to share that the grand opening of my constituency office on June 15 was a success, and I was overjoyed to see many constituents in attendance. I had the privilege of engaging in meaningful conversations about the issues that matter most to the people of McPhillips and hearing your valuable suggestions for enhancing our neighbourhoods.
I was pleased to present several awards to deserving students from Garden City Collegiate, Seven Oaks Met, École Lansdowne and MITT at their graduation ceremonies. These students exemplify strong leadership skills, outstanding dedication to community service and a commitment to academic excellence. These graduates overcame unprecedented obstacles, beginning their high school journey during the COVID-19 pandemic. They navigated multiple pivots in school attendance, embraced online learning, and forged new friendships. Their remarkable strength and resilience, which will serve them well as they embark on the next steps of their journey in higher education or growing into Manitoba’s workforce, is truly inspiring and makes us all proud.

I was happy to celebrate Canada Day with the West St. Paul community. The celebrations included a pancake breakfast, face painting, bouncers, a candy scramble, wrestling, and many more fun family activities. Despite the weather, the community rallied and spent the day celebrating with friends, family, and neighbours.
I am eagerly looking forward to the opportunity to connect with you in the community this summer. I will be visiting your neighborhoods, knocking on doors to check in on everyone, and to hear your concerns. Your feedback is invaluable, and I am excited and deeply value the opportunity to hear from you.
Our government is working to lower costs for Manitobans. Budget 2024 introduces 21 new ways to save which ranges from significant rebates to broad middle-class income tax cuts. Seniors who live on a fixed income deserve to be supported as they age in their community. So, we’re going to save them more money moving forward with our budget’s increases to the seniors’ top-up and the seniors school tax rebate. This is a crucial step forward to financially empower seniors who worked incredibly to build our province.
I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful summer, enjoying the sunshine and warmer weather! Please take care and stay safe during your summer activities.
I am looking forward to seeing more of the McPhillips community this summer, and I hope that many of you will stop by the constituency office located at Unit 210 – 1375 McPhillips Street to say hello. I can be reached at 431-323-6014 or by email at JD.Devgan@yourmanitoba.ca.
