As kids start heading back to school, local author Michael Champagne hopes his new book will become part of the curriculum.
“We Need Everyone is a book that helps kids and leaders find their talents, gifts and abilities,” says Michael. “This book is great, especially for educators or parents who have children that are often called ‘too much’.”
The first part of the book is a step-by-step guide on how to find your gift.

We Need Everyone, a new children’s book by Michael Redhead Champagne and illustrated by Tiff Bartel, aims to help kids and leaders find their talents, gifts and abilities.
“It begins by asking you to think of things you like doing and then selecting what you are good at, your gift, from that list,” explained Michael. “It finishes by asking you to think of ways you can practice your gift or even share it with those around you.”
Michael, who is an award-winning community organizer, public speaker, and a proud member of Shamattawa First Nation, decided to write the book because he often heard young people say “I’m not good at anything,” and the adults in their lives don’t know what to say.
“This book gives us the language and a process to reframe the things we are good at and the things we like doing as a gift that the world could benefit from, if only we practice and share it,” Michael said.
The book is available for purchase at McNally Robinson and online, while a free teachers guide is available online at HighWater Press website. To find out more about Michael and his future projects, visit MichaelRedheadChampagne.com or on Instagram at @northendmc.
