The Southdale constituency is experiencing a wave of growth and revitalization, marked by the recent openings of Lizzie Lanes bowling alley and Dave and Laverne’s Modern Diner. These establishments are breathing new life into the community, offering residents fresh and exciting options for leisure and dining.

Lizzie Lanes Bowling Alley is a new addition to the Windsor Park Strip Mall at 678 Elizabeth Rd. After nearly a decade of vacancy following the closure of Windsor Lanes, the space has been transformed into a vibrant and welcoming venue. The new owners, Jeffery Patrick and his wife Jodie, have not only refurbished the bowling alley but added a lounge area, a stage for live music and open mics, and a place for darts. Lizzie Lanes opened on Dec.14, 2024 and is already drawing crowds.

Dave and Laverne’s Modern Diner, at 15 Lakewood Blvd., is another awesome addition that is contributing to our community’s renewal. Offering a delicious selection of classic diner items with a twist, this spot is quickly becoming a local favourite. They’re open from 11 a.m. to late, making it a perfect spot for family meals, gatherings, and late-night snacks.

The revitalization efforts in Southdale are about creating a sense of community and bringing people together. The reopening of Lizzie Lanes has given residents a place to reconnect and create new memories, while Dave and Laverne’s offers a cozy environment for friends and families to enjoy good food and each other’s company.

As Southdale continues to grow and evolve, these new establishments are playing a crucial role in fostering a vibrant and dynamic community. And to help ensure that everyone in Southdale can enjoy heading to local establishments such as Dave and Laverne’s or Lizzie Lanes, our Manitoba NDP team has been working to lower costs so you can get out and enjoy the good things in life. We’re ending restrictive real estate covenants for grocery stores to encourage competition and giving homeowners an affordability tax credit while also increasing the renter’s tax credit. While we’ve still got plenty of work to do, our government will never stop fighting for Manitobans to live a good life. The future looks bright for Southdale with more opportunities for residents to come together, enjoy new experiences, and build a stronger, more connected community.

Please contact my office anytime. My team can help you navigate issues and government programs and provide Commissioner for Oaths services. We also collect donations for a variety of community causes, including Morgan’s Warriors, which currently needs winter clothing and footwear.
