Dress for Success Winnipeg’s women’s clothing sale kicks off at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11 at 800 Point Rd.

If you have a passion for bling, get there early so you can have first dibs on the sparkle rack, which will be assembled by long-time volunteer Linda Argue.

“Linda has been helping us set up for the sales since 1998. She’s so efficient that it seems to take minutes to put together an incredible display,” said program coordinator Eston Ferraton.

The semi-annual sale support Dress for Success Winnipeg’s mission of empowering women to achieve economic independence by providing support, professional attire and development tools.

In 2025, Dress for Success has already helped 120 women get suited up for job interviews or new positions.

“Some clients enjoy getting help picking out the perfect outfit. Others have a strong sense of style and know exactly what they want,” Ferraton said.

Since January, Dress for Success has received 230 bags of clothing, making the spring purge necessary.

You won’t find spring business attire at the sale because that will be kept for clients, but you will find stylish, quality clothing that is in excellent condition.

“We’ve been receiving a lot more labels. The clothes on sale are all recent and still in style.”

The money from the sale goes right back into the program to purchase items that aren’t often donated, such as warm winter coats, winter boots, mitts and toques. Last year, the sales raised $12,000.

“We have women who have been coming to the sales for years,” Ferraton said. “We have dedicated clientele. They wait for the email and then bring their friends.”

The South Winnipeg Family Information Centre operated the Clothes Closet program from 1997 until 2019. when it became a Dress for Success affiliate.

“Dress for Success is all across the world,” said Ferraton. “It has opened up opportunities. We’ve been able to expand career wraparound programs.”
