Budget 2025 highlights for Wolseley

On March 20, our government brought forward our second budget, Budget 2025: Building One Manitoba.

This budget provides exciting grants to many organizations and service providers here in Wolseley.

Crossways Child Care Centre is a leader in ensuring the needs of every child’s development are best met through meaningfully inclusive programming. Our government is providing the centre with a grant for outdoor space innovation to support it in its efforts to promote healthy development.

Resource Assistance for Youth received a funding increase for their Safe Suites program, which provides temporary emergency housing placements for youth while they collaborate with CFS agency staff to find stable housing.

We provided Acorn Family Place with a grant for a new WrapAround program that will support families involved with or at risk of being involved with the CFS system.

Ka Ni Kanichihk, New Directions, and Villa Rosa also received funding increases so that these organizations can continue their important work in helping community members find the support that they need.

Additionally, the 79th Cameron Highlanders of Canada received a grant from the Community Museum Grants Program to support and preserve our province’s heritage resources.

Also, through a carve out of the From the Ground Up Fund, we are providing some strategic investments in a handful of community centres in Winnipeg, Brandon and Thompson; this includes the Valour Community Centre – Orioles Site on Burnell Street. The Orioles site will receive $100k per year over two years toward staffing and operating costs for youth programs and with the goal of keeping doors open more hours to serve our community.

From Day 1, our government has been working hard to rebuild health care in Manitoba. Constituents of Wolseley have felt the impacts of the former Progressive Conservative government’s cuts and mismanagement when they shuttered the urgent care centre at Misericordia Health Centre that we have since opened a Minor Illness and Injury Clinic in its place. This year’s budget builds on our efforts to restore health care services to all Manitobans, including our community members with a $1.8 million investment to make the eight transitional care unit beds at Misericordia Health Centre permanent.
