It’s that time of year again!

With summer right around the corner, now is the perfect time for all of us to start thinking about how we’re going to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Whether you’re heading to the lake or hitting the trails, our great province has something for everybody to enjoy. Here in Winnipeg, we’re lucky enough to have the beautiful Seine River cutting through the south side of our city. The Seine River is bordered by beautiful forests in Bois-des-Esprits and is filled with wildlife, offering a host of amazing local sightseeing opportunities right at home. Coming up this summer, the River Seine has a great opportunity for folks to get out onto the water.

This year’s Rendez-Vous Rivyayr is keeping up with their yearly tradition of paddling down the river, which will be happening on Saturday, June 7. I encourage everyone to come and enjoy this event as it is open to all paddlers, whether beginner or experienced, to come and enjoy the outdoors. This event is organized in partnership by the Métis Historical Society, and as a proud Métis Franco-Manitoban, it is always an honour to share and learn more about our heritage. Registration opens soon, so I hope to see everyone come out and enjoy our beautiful Seine River.

Saving our environment is another promise that our government is dedicated to keeping. We were proud to release Budget 2025 which re-emphasized our commitment to environmental responsibility. From providing EV rebates to working towards protecting the Seal River Watershed, know that we’re looking to the environmental future of Manitoba. April 22 was also Earth Day, and I was proud to celebrate it with my colleagues and the community at the legislature. During this event, I was excited to see that our Environment and Climate Minister has also invested a further $2 million in project funding through the Climate Action Fund. Every Manitoban deserves to have a future with clean air, land, and water, and I’m proud to stand by a government that is working to secure our provinces’ environment for generations to come.

As your MLA for St. Boniface, it’s an honour to keep serving our community and deliver results for every Manitoban.
