In a time when modern rock can feel more synthetic than soulful, Kingsway is stepping onto the scene with a bold statement — their debut album.

With a sound that channels the raw energy and sonic depth of 70s rock, Kingsway brings an exciting blend of vintage grooves and contemporary flair to the rock scene. Their highly anticipated debut album is set to push boundaries and make a lasting impression.

Taking inspiration from renowned bands as Led Zeppelin, Queen, and The Rolling Stones, Kingsway is more than just a throwback.

Kingsway are one of two local bands to keep an eye on with new albums on the horizon.

Fronted by lead vocalist Trent Thornton, lead guitarist Noah Monney, bassist Bryce Pankiewich, with drums, keyboard, and backing vocals performed by Anton Uruski, the band has a long history with each other as they all grew up playing hockey together. Kingsway released its debut album May 16, with an official release show at The Osbourne Taphouse slated for June 6. In addition to their four song EP Stories from Sunfall, they’re generating buzz across the rock community here in Winnipeg. Whether you’re a diehard fan of classic rock or new to the genre, Kingsway is a band to watch.

Kingsway has shared the stage with many great acts such as: Theory of a Dead Man, JJ Wilde, Econoline Crush and many more fantastic rock artists to name a few. The band looks to achieve success in keeping rock music alive and true to its roots while delivering a passionate and exciting live performance.

Another up-and-coming band is Strange and Unusual, who are from the Wolsely area.

Strange and Unusual started just jamming in a basement, but since putting out an EP of five songs last November, they’ve been hard at work making their new album. To celebrate the release of the album, Strange and Unusual have been booked in at the West End Cultural Centre on May 25 and will play a rocking show with two other bands. The show will feature a brand new band called 3/40, followed by the young and promising group We’re Only Here For The Snacks. Strange and Unusual will then play the songs on their new album, along with songs from their EP, and some covers.

In the lead up to the show, Strange and Unusual will put out a few singles before the actual release to get some traction. Be sure to check out the album and the show on May 25
