NDP caucus’ youth engagement

As the youngest woman ever elected to the Manitoba legislature, I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible power young people have to drive meaningful, lasting change. Our voices matter, our perspectives are crucial, and our energy is exactly what this moment demands. That is why I’m so proud of the work being done by the Manitoba Young New Democrats (MYND).
The MYND is more than just a youth wing — it’s a movement. It’s the collective and forward-thinking of our youth today who are bringing bold, fearless energy to our political landscape. Their hopeful, inclusive vision is helping shape the future of the Manitoba NDP, and it’s nothing short of inspiring. Young leaders of today are not waiting for permission. They are leading with heart, conviction, and courage.
Our youth are standing up and speaking out on the issues that affect them most. Whether it’s the fight for climate justice, the urgent need for affordable housing, better access to mental health care, or the rising cost of education, young Manitobans are directly impacted by the decisions made in the Legislature. Through MYND, they are organizing, advocating, and making their voices heard in powerful ways.

Their contributions didn’t just influence our platform — they were embedded in it. From policy priorities to grassroots outreach, MYND’s leadership was everywhere. That’s what real, participatory democracy looks like. It’s leadership that listens, reflects, and acts. I carry the voices of these young people with me every single day when I rise to speak in the legislature.
However, this work isn’t only about politics. It’s about building a community. MYND is a space where youth can connect, learn from each other, and lift one another up. It’s built by youth, for youth, and that’s what makes it so powerful. It’s about belonging and empowerment.
When I first entered political spaces, I didn’t always see people my age or who shared my lived experiences. I understand how intimidating that can feel. MYND proves that when young people lead, they don’t just belong, they transform the system.
To every young person who has been told to wait their turn, I want you to hear this clearly: your time is now. Your voice is powerful, your ideas matter, and your leadership is needed. I see you. I believe in you. Together, we’re building a more just, caring, and progressive Manitoba. One where no one is left behind.
