Happy holidays and an update from your MLA

Kirkfield Park

With the holidays around the corner, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on some recent events in our community.

In October, I visited the Boston Pizza here in Kirkfield Park for Connect Employment Services’ Take Your MLA to Work Day, where I met Clinton and Andrea, two Connect clients employed at the restaurant, and had the chance to see inclusive employment in action. I was honoured to later welcome Clinton and Andrea – along with management from Boston Pizza and Connect Employment Services – to the Legislature as guests for a member’s statement.

In early November, we marked Remembrance Day and Indigenous Veterans Day. This year, I attended ceremonies at Bruce Middle School and ANAVETS Unit 283. Both were moving commemorations, and I was humbled by the powerful words shared by veterans. This time of year reminds us of the sacrifice made by those who served to defend our country and our democracy. We remember those who never returned home and offer our gratitude to those who live with lasting physical and emotional scars.

Later in the month, I attended the Grace Gala, hosted by the Grace Hospital Foundation. This important event raises funds that help ensure the Grace Hospital can continue delivering high-quality care. My thanks go to everyone at the Foundation for their dedication. I also had the pleasure of joining the Rainbow Resource Centre’s Queerly Beloved Gala—a beautiful celebration of community in support of a vital organization.
