A night of food, music, and community

I had a great time joining neighbours at the Luxton Residents’ Association’s fall community dinner. This wonderful evening took place right here in St. Johns at St. John’s Anglican Cathedral, and it was amazing to see so many folks come together to celebrate good food, music, and community.
The room was full of laughter and conversation all night — exactly what makes St. Johns such a special, close-knit neighbourhood. Guests enjoyed live entertainment and a delicious Ukrainian dinner catered by Naleway, featuring perogies and meatballs, topped off with chocolate cake for dessert. It was a true feast, and you could feel the care and generosity behind every bite.
Community dinners such as this are about so much more than sharing a meal. They’re about connection, belonging, and the power of neighbours supporting one another. In a time when life can feel busy and overwhelming, these gatherings give us a chance to slow down, check in, and simply enjoy being together.
I’m so proud to support the Luxton Residents’ Association and the incredible work they do to strengthen community ties. From organizing opportunities for neighbours to connect, to creating welcoming spaces for people of all ages, their efforts help ensure St. Johns remains a vibrant and inclusive community. Their dedication truly makes a difference in folks’ lives, and I’m grateful for everything they do.
As your MLA for St. Johns, I’m always thankful for opportunities to be present in our community and see first-hand the impact of local leadership. Events like this remind us that we’re stronger when we come together. They show that at its core, St. Johns is a neighbourhood where people care about each other and work hard to make sure everyone feels welcome.
A big thank you to the Luxton Residents’ Association, the volunteers, the performers, and everyone who made this evening so special. I’m looking forward to many more opportunities to gather as neighbours and keep building a supportive, connected community.
