Celebrating the holiday season

St. Vital

Happy holidays, St. Vital! Our community always buzzes with exciting opportunities during the holidays to bring people together, to chat with the amazing folks who call St. Vital home and to spread some holiday cheer.

I recently delivered poinsettias from Art’s Flowers, a St. Vital business, to community service providers and seniors’ blocks across the St. Vital community. This was such a great way to thank the people who help support and build our community up to be the wonderful place that it is.

I was also glad to help judge the Christmas lights contest at Riverside Lions Estates. The seniors’ balconies strung with lights were so festive and colourful, and they enliven and brighten our community. Congratulations to the winners, all the participants and thank you to the organizers for spreading joy during the season.

It was a pleasure to attend both Norberry-Glenlee Community Centre’s annual Breakfast with Santa and Windsor Community Centre’s Holiday Breakfast, where families from across the community and beyond gathered to enjoy pancakes together. Through dedicated volunteer efforts and the hard work of the teams at both community centres, these memorable events are always a source of holiday cheer for our community here in St. Vital – especially when kids and families enjoy a visit from Santa.

Thank you to everyone who continues to make community events like these possible.

As we enter the new year, our government will continue to listen to Manitobans as we work hard to rebuild health care, make life more affordable, and ensure that folks feel safe in their own communities. From the start of construction on the new Victoria General Hospital emergency room in January, to helping make our schools safer by providing $500,000 in new funding for safety and by requiring schools to review controlled access policies, there is an abundance of new initiatives to look forward to in 2026.

As always, please feel free to contact me by email at jamie.moses@yourmanitoba.ca or by phone at 204-219-5407. Wishing you all a happy and safe holiday season full of time spent with loved ones, rest and relaxation, and enjoyment of our community. All the best in 2026.
