City seeks feedback for final phase of eastern corridor study

The City of Winnipeg is seeking feedback on the approved Eastern Rapid Transit Corridor route through Point Douglas and Elmwood neighbourhoods, which includes a conceptual design and the Louise Bridge replacement.

In April 2021, Council approved the Winnipeg Transit Master Plan (WTMP), which included the Eastern Rapid Transit Corridor route. The plan includes staging for the construction of the Rapid Transit corridors, from downtown outward.

Residents can view the draft during an online presentation or attend a drop-in outdoor open-house on Mon., June 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the corner of Sutherland Avenue and Gomez Street. In case of heavy rain, the event will be held Tues., June, 28 at the same time and place. A survey is also now open and responses will be accepted until Fri., July 15.

According to the city, “the final version of the plan will be used to guide the next steps in creating more detailed designs for the Louise Bridge and surrounding area. There is no timeline for construction of the Eastern Rapid Transit Corridor or Louise Bridge replacement, both of which are subject to council approval and funding.”
