There’s nothing like home cooking.
When Tianlin Feng and her team took over operations of the restaurant at the Curtis Gordon Hotel (1011 Henderson Hwy.), it was important for her to provide more opportunities for area residents and diners with good quality home cooking.
“Lots of people living around here don’t even know there’s a restaurant here,” said Feng, who is known to friends and regulars as ‘Yoyo’.

Photo by Sheldon Birnie Tianlin Feng is keen to have diners visit the restaurant at the Curtis Gordon Motor Hotel. Feng, who took over the restaurant at the start of January 2023, has expanded both the menu and hours of operation.
“We want them to know we have breakfast specials, lunch and dinner, too.”
Prior taking over the restaurant in January, Feng ran a restaurant in Morris, Man., as well as a bubble tea franchise on Pembina Highway in Winnipeg’s south end.
The chance to run a restaurant in an established location was a big draw for Feng.
“We’re trying to bring some new things here for our customers.”
Along with offering expanded hours of operation, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 8 p.m. on Sundays, Feng is also introducing more options, which includes dinner and a weekly lunch buffet every Friday.
“One popular item is our homemade mac and cheese and our spinach dip. It’s pretty good,” Feng said.
“We also do a marinated chicken breast that sells pretty good, too. We use fresh chicken breast and I make the marinade myself.”

Tianlin Feng would like diners to try the new “home-cooked” menu items at the Curtis Gordon Motor Hotel restaurant, located at 1011 Henderson Hwy.
While the changes have been embraced by regulars, Feng didn’t want to mix things up too much, keeping the breakfast menu mostly the same.
Daily specials are offered, and the restaurant also provides food for the hotel bar.
“Most customers have said they love the change,” Feng said.
