South St. Vital will once again play host to the Super-Spike volleyball tournament this summer.
The two-day event is scheduled to take place on July 21 and 22 at Maple Grove Rugby Park (190 Frobisher Rd.)
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Super-Spike, which combines Western Canada’s largest outdoor volleyball tournament with a weekend-long concert series.
Shawn Desman will be this year’s main stage headliner, with rising star Noelle opening. Several Manitoba acts, including Jeremie and the Delicious Hounds, the Dust Rhinos, Daniel Desorcy, The Black Out City Kids, Always Dale, and a number of local DJs, are also slated to perform.
Super-Spike acts as a significant fundraiser, having raised more than $1.3 million to date for local non-profits, organizers say. Most of the proceeds raised from this year’s event will continue to support Volleyball Manitoba and its grassroots programs.
Registration for teams is now open, and early bird prices are available. All Super-Spike participants receive free access to the concert series and on-site festivities. Early bird weekend passes for non-tournament participants are also on sale now.
