Over 30,000 people attended Winnipeg Comic Con 2023 over the weekend of Oct. 27-29 at RBC Convention Centre.
Fans of all kinds of media, many dressed in Halloween costumes and colourful character costumes — and thus referred to as cosplayers — took in the three-day creative media extravaganza, which began in 2019.
Visitors took part in panels, on-stage talks with celebrity guests, cosplay meet-ups (including the annual Masquerade on Saturday), and more. Fans were also encouraged to check out art and fan merchandise from over 100 vendors and artists — both local and from around the country.
Other activities included Underworld LARP Winnipeg, tabletop gaming through Game-itoba, fundraising events in support of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, Make-a-Wish Manitoba, and more.
Trans-Canada Brewing Company brewed a special beer for the event — ‘Whistler’ — with custom promotional artwork done by local illustrator GMB Chomichuk.
Winnipeg Comic Con will return Oct. 25 to 27, 2024.
