The East Kildonan-Transcona community committee held a special meeting on Dec. 4 to deal with a number of items before the end of the year.
A grant for $90,000, from Transcona’s land dedication reserve funding, for renovations of Transcona Scouts Hall (110 Winona St.) was approved, pending a complete application from the Transcona Scouts Association. Over the past couple years, the building has had asbestos removed, with the intent of making the space available not only for the Scouts use, but also other community groups and activities.
Plans for a 17-unit, three-storey building at 460 Henderson Hwy. were approved. The new building includes 20 parking stalls, 10 new trees and numerous shrubs on site, as well as preservation of two mature trees in back of the building.
