East Winnipeg community centres receive renovation grants

A number of community centres in east Winnipeg are among recipients of funding from the City’s Community Centre Renovation Grant Program.
These include:
• Dakota (1188 Dakota St.) — $17,850 for new blinds for its great hall;

Greendell Park Community Centre (75 Woodlawn Ave.), pictured here in this file photo, will receive $80,027 from the City of Winnipeg’s Community Centre Renovation Grant Program to replace exterior doors this year.
• Greendell Park (75 Woodlawn Ave.) — $80,027 to replace exterior doors;
• Notre Dame (271 ave. de la Cathedrale) — $66,256 for dressing room and arena upgrades; and
• Winakwa (980 Winakwa Rd.) — $38,673 for LED lighting upgrades.
“This program underscores our commitment to supporting the heart of our neighbourhoods — our community centres,” said Winnipeg mayor Scott Gillingham in a statement.
“By investing in these renovation projects, we are not only enhancing the infrastructure of our community centres but also ensuring they remain busy and vibrant spaces for the benefit of all Winnipeggers.”
