City providing update on new Transit garage

On Monday, May 27, the City of Winnipeg will hold an open house on the new Winnipeg Transit garage. The garage is to be built at the intersection of Selkirk Avenue and Oak Point Highway and will replace the North Garage, located at 1520 Main St., which is Transit’s oldest building and is too small for future growth.

The new garage, which is receiving funding from all three levels of government, will house approximately 250 buses, and allow Transit to add 60-foot buses to its fleet, while also expanding its zero-emission bus program. The new garage will also feature an energy efficient bus storage, service, and maintenance facility.

The drop-in information session on the project will take place on Monday, May 27, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Tyndall Park Community Centre (2255 King Edward St.). For more information, visit winnipeg.ca/northgarage
