Library names Nora Decter writer-in-residence

Winnipeg author Nora Decter will be the Winnipeg Public Library’s 2024-25 writer-in-residence, the library confirmed last week.

Decter is the author of the young adult novel How Far We Go and How Fast, which won the 2019 Kobo Emerging Writer Prize for literary fiction. Her debut adult novel, What’s Not Mine, was published this past spring by ECW Press. She grew up in Winnipeg’s North End and studied writing at York University in Toronto and Stony Brook University in Southampton, NY.

The writer-in-residence program runs annually from Oct. 1 to April 30 at the WPL’s Millennium Library location. It offers new and emerging writers from Manitoba free one-on-one consultations, group workshops and a writing circle. For more information, see: www.winnipeg.ca
