The recent Art from the Attic fundraising event has been hailed as a hit. The all-day art sale, which was held at St. Vital Centre on Oct. 6, raised $44,143, key organizer Sharon Twilley said.

She said the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers campaign can expect to receive $43,000 from the proceeds, “thanks, in part, to sponsors whose generosity covered a very substantial portion of our expenses.”

“There were 1,027 paying customers, with many more browsers, onlookers and family members in the background,” Twilley said, adding 2,759 pieces of art were sold. “Sixty per cent of them were sold in the first two hours — it paid to arrive early!”
