The Winnipeg Boys’ Choir recently capped its 100th anniversary season with a spring concert titled “All the Way Home” at Crescent Fort Rouge United Church on May 4.
“Over 50 current singers were joined by a chorus of alumni from their 20s to their 80s, while a number of current and former choir mums joined the group for a finale that left few eyes dry,” Spasoff said in an email statement.
She said VIP guests at the concert included former conductors, pianists and board members, and the choir was honoured to have Lt. Gov. Anita Neville in attendance. The concert was led by artistic director Carolyn Boyes, with conductors Spencer Duncanson and Albert Bergen and pianists Deena Grier, Lisa Rumpel and Megan Dufrat.
“All in attendance would surely agree that this was a triumphant and heartwarming conclusion to the Winnipeg Boys’ Choir’s first century of song!”
Organizers also collated a memorabilia gallery to mark the occasion, with items including photos, concert posters, newspaper articles, audio recordings, and a uniform.
