When it comes to his business, Aaron Janzen believes in a hands-on approach.

The 36-year-old is owner and president of Dent Dynasty, a paintless hail-repair centre located at 2-2071 Plessis Rd.

After nearly 20 years of working in the autobody industry, Janzen continues to organically grow his business. Last April, he moved from his previous location on Mission Street, which he called home for six years, to his current location, which is more than double the size.

Dent Dynasty specializes in automobile hail-damage repair, dent repair and removal, and motorcycle dent repair. One pivotal event at the hands of Mother Nature occurred in August 2023, Janzen said, when a Manitoba storm yielded large hail and high winds, which subsequently led to an increased demand for his company’s services, resulting in nearly 100 calls a day. Janzen quickly rented additional space, but even that move wasn’t enough.

“It was a big hail storm, and we then grew, hiring more staff and adding new equipment as a result,” Janzen said, noting he opened Dent Dynasty in 2013, having previously worked for others, learning the trade and the business, since he was teenager.

“We were able to add more company vehicles, and a courtesy car. Things really grew quickly, and there’s been a steady growth since 2013.”

The growth can also be measured in personnel terms — in 2019, Janzen had three employees, including himself. Now, he has at least seven staff on the books at any given time, and sometimes as many as 10. His mother, Ann, has also been a key member of Dent Dynasty for years, which serves to highlight the importance of family to the married father of three.

With growth, of course, comes evolution, and the business rebuilt its website last month, and it now includes a new online appointment booking tool.

And while evolution sometimes necessitates change, some things — such as Janzen’s business philosophy — have remained the same.

“It’s about offering a service, and doing it well, and treating our customers, and their vehicles, with respect, and doing a quality job every single time,” he said, noting Plessis Road is Dent Dynasty’s fifth location. “I’ve been able to hire a full-time estimator, and my technicians are absolute rock stars.”

As he stopped to reflect on the development of the business, Janzen said he’s proud of what his team has achieved to date.

“I feel pretty accomplished at the moment. I started out working for another dent company, and then went out on my own.”

Janzen added he also feels proud when people tell him they’ll only let Dent Dynasty work on their vehicles after a repair job.

“It’s great when our customers are genuinely happy when they leave, and tell me they’re going to tell their friends and family.”
