On June 7, all three levels of government came together to celebrate the opening of a new 3,000-square-foot accessible spray pad at Bronx Park Community Centre (720 Henderson Hwy.).
“The Bronx Park spray pad is a fantastic new amenity for families in both Elmwood-East Kildonan and North Kildonan,” Coun. Jeff Browaty (North Kildonan) said in a statement.
“The project was truly a collaborative effort, and it would not have been possible without the late councillor Jason Schreyer’s support and dedication to the community. Our combined resources, along with the Government of Canada and Province of Manitoba, brought this vision to life. This space will offer families a place to cool off, connect, and create lasting memories for years to come.”

Vivian Santos (Point Douglas), and Mayor Scott Gillingham at the official opening of the new spray pad at Bronx Park Community Centre (720 Henderson Hwy.) on June 7.
“Coun. Schreyer was excited about this project and eagerly contributed a portion of his ward allowance, knowing that many of the families who would enjoy the spray pad lived in his ward,” added Jim Maloway, MLA for Elmwood. “The opening of this new spray pad will bring endless summer fun to the community.”
The budget for the project — which includes the splash pad, concrete pathways, seating areas, shade structures, a water fountain, a bike rack, and upgraded landscaping — was estimated at approximately $1 million, with $913,000 funded through the federal Canada Community-Building Fund and $87,000 from the City of Winnipeg.
