St. Amant’s gift wrap, coat check to run until Dec. 24
St. Amant Foundation’s 15th annual gift wrap and coat check is back in business at St. Vital Centre (1225 St. Mary’s Rd.).
The volunteer-staffed station gives holiday-season shoppers the chance to hang up their coats and shop in comfort, and to have their purchases wrapped in support of a good cause.
The donation-based initiative will run until Dec. 24.

Winter parking ban in effect Dec. 3
The City of Winnipeg’s winter route parking ban will take effect on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Parking on designated winter routes is not permitted overnight between the hours of 2 and 7 a.m. Drivers should look for “Winter Route” and “Snow Route” signs before parking overnight, or use the city’s Know Your Zone app, the city’s online interactive snow map, or call 311 if unsure.
Vehicles parked in violation of the ban may receive a $100 ticket ($75 if paid early), and may also be towed to the towing company’s compound. Vehicle owners are responsible for all associated towing and storage fees.

Legislature open house Dec. 6
The Manitoba government is inviting Manitobans to visit the Legislative Building on Saturday, Dec. 6 for its 2025 holiday open house.
“I’m pleased to invite all Manitobans to our 2025 Holiday Open House, the Legislative Building is the people’s building and this event is one of my favourite opportunities to welcome everyone inside,” Premier Wab Kinew said in a statement. “I look forward to celebrating the holiday season together with music, food and plenty of festive cheer.”
The open house will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., is free of charge and open to all. Attendees are invited to bring non-perishable food items in support of the Christmas Cheer Board of Winnipeg.
The event will also be livestreamed at news.gov.mb.ca for those wishing to celebrate virtually.
