Coun. Brian Mayes (St. Vital) joined Glenwood Community Centre executive director Coralie Charbonneau and president Shawn Fraser in early March to announce that $375,000 had been secured for upgrades to the Glenwood Community Centre (Moffat) Arena.

The rink dates back to the early 1970s, and the new funding will support replacement of the ice plant evaporative condenser and stand; control system upgrades and installation of a new dehumidifier; dressing room and referee room refurbishment; and new player boxes at ice level.

Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2026. Recent investments in the Glenwood Arena in recent years include a $400,000 heating project (2013); $10,500 for a new score clock (2018); and $104,000 for the replacement of arena glass (2020). Since 2013, more than $1 million has been invested in the arena through joint funding from the municipal, provincial, and federal governments.
