Scouts hosting fundraiser April 11, 12
The two 1st John de Graaf Scout Ventures group is running its Scoutrees 2026 fundraiser at the FreshCo on Regent and Lagimodiere on the weekend of April 11 and 12.
The annual fundraiser allows for Scouts from Winnipeg and East Man area to plant trees in the Sandilands Provincial Forest to help the environment. The event emphasizes the importance of fundraising to support non-profits so they can plan and take part in the activities.
According to organizers, “the two Venturers with the 1st JDG Scout Group, who meet weekly in a combined company with Venturers from 1st Sun Valley, look forward to as many people coming to see the new table cover display they worked on and supporting the youth of the 1st John DeGraff Scout Grp so they can collect a lot of pledges and in turn plants a lot of trees this year.”
St. Vital Museum opens new exhibit April 11
The St. Vital Museum, located in the old fire hall at the junction of St. Mary’s and St. Anne’s roads, will officially cut the ribbon to open its new permanent exhibit highlighting the rich history of the Scouts and Guides in St. Vital.
The event runs from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, at the museum (600 St. Mary’s Rd.). For more information on the museum or the event, visit svhs.ca
