Manitoba Underdogs to hold 1990s-themed social May 23

A local animal rescue is inviting folks to turn back time to the 1990s for a good cause.

According to its website, Manitoba Underdogs Rescue is holding its totally rad charity social ‘90s night at Transcona East End Community Centre (517 Pandora Ave. E) on Saturday, May 23 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The 18+ event will feature a DJ from Body Bounce Productions, who will be spinning ‘90s hits throughout the night, organizers say. Prospective guests are encouraged to wear period gear from the 1990s.

Tulips, Teas & Senior Melodies at Glenwood C.C. May 27

Folks in the Glenwood Community Centre community are tuning up to hold an afternoon of music and connection.

The centre (27 Overton St.) will host the Tulips, Teas & Senior Melodies event on Wednesday, May 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

According to the centre’s website, guests will be treated to a light lunch, followed by a performance by the Senior Melody Group.

East Kildonan Garden Club to host annual plant sale on May 27

On Wednesday, May 27, the East Kildonan Garden Club will host its annual plant sale.

The event, which takes place at the Holy Eucharist Parish Centre (460 Munroe Ave.) starting at 6 p.m., will include vegetables and herbs, annuals and perennials, house plants and succulents, and a silent auction. Sales are cash only, and shoppers are encouraged to bring their own bags or boxes to transport the plants home.

Valley Gardens C.C. to host 50th family fun day June 6

Valley Garden Community Centre (218 Antrim Rd.) will host its 50th anniversary family fun day on Saturday, June 6.

This free, family-focused community event will bring people of all ages together for a day of connection, creativity, and fun, according to organizers, featuring local food vendors, an artisan market, games, children’s activities, and hands-on arts and crafts. The event will also feature themed “garden stations,” including play areas, creative spaces, and a special indoor exhibit highlighting VGCC’s 50-year history and community stories.
