Free Jazz Night with Karly Epp & Emmanuel Bach Trio

Led by Brazilian guitarist Emmanuel Bach, this trio brings together the sophistication of modern jazz with the rhythmic richness of Brazilian music. Emmanuel, originally from Brazil and now a key figure in the Winnipeg jazz scene, holds a master’s degree from the University of Manitoba, and currently teaches jazz guitar students and ensembles there. He has released three albums as a leader and performed with legends like Airto Moreira, Flora Purim, and Ivan Lins.

Each Saturday night performance features an opening set by the trio, with two of Canada’s most in-demand musicians: Fabio Ragnelli (drums) and Karl Kohut (bass), followed by a set with a different special guest each week. This week’s guest is vocalist Karly Epp. And if a familiar face from the local music community happens to be in the house, don’t be surprised if Emmanuel waves them up for a tune!
