NOB Jazz Night with Emmanuel Bach Quartet & Marco Castillo (Brazilian Jazz Night)

Led by Brazilian guitarist Emmanuel Bach, this quartet brings together the sophistication of modern jazz with the rhythmic richness of Brazilian music. Emmanuel, originally from Brazil and now a key figure in the Winnipeg jazz scene, holds a master’s degree from the University of Manitoba, and currently teaches jazz guitar students and ensembles there. He has released three albums as a leader and performed with legends like Airto Moreira, Flora Purim, and Ivan Lins.

Each Saturday night performance features an opening set by the quartet, followed by a set with a special guest. This week’s trio features Karl Kohut (bass), Jonas Martens (drums), saxophonist Samuel Murrel-Cole, and special guest is Brazilian vocalist and guitarist Marco Castillo. And if a familiar face from the local music community happens to be in the house, don’t be surprised if Emmanuel waves them up for a tune!
