Women at the Heart of Justice

November 9 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Free

Join Canadian Jesuits International (CJI) for an inspiring and timely event featuring Sister Laura Vicuña Pereira Manso, a Franciscan Catechist and Indigenous leader from Brazil’s Kariri people.

This event highlights the powerful role women play as changemakers in the global struggle for justice, equality, and sustainability.

Sister Laura has spent over 20 years advocating for human rights and environmental justice in the Brazilian Amazon. As vice president of the Ecclesial Conference of the Amazon (CEAMA), she works alongside Indigenous communities resisting illegal logging, land theft, and extractive industries. With a background in anthropology and social psychology, she brings deep insight and lived experience to her advocacy, having addressed global institutions including the United Nations.
Her voice is a vital one in the Catholic Church and beyond, championing the inclusion of women and the protection of vulnerable communities.
