A Headingley-based company will mark a major milestone next month — and it’s inviting area residents to be part of the celebration.

Taillieu Construction will celebrate its 50th anniversary in June. It was originally incorporated by company founder Marcel Taillieu in 1960.

Wilf Taillieu, Marcel’s son and the company’s current president, said the company will host an open house on June 10 during which members of the public will be able to tour its new facility on Roblin Boulevard.

“We are expecting about 200 people to come and go throughout the day,” Taillieu said. “I invite anyone who wants to see what we do to come out and join us.”

Taillieu Construction currently employs about 80 people in and around the Headingley area. Taillieu said the company’s employees have played a big part in its continued success.

“We have a lot or really good employees and many of them have been with us for over 35 years,” he said. “We wouldn’t be where we are without them.”

Taillieu Construction has been based in Headingley since it opened for business in 1960. Taillieu said his company’s roots run deep in the community.

“The company has been here since it was started by my father and I grew up in Headingley,” Taillieu said. “We have strong ties to this municipality.”

Those ties include installing the first piped sewer system in the municipality.

Taillieu said both the company and municipality have both grown substantially during the past six decades.

“I’ve watched this municipality go from a have-not area to a jewel in Manitoba,” Taillieu said. “I believe that both my company and the municipality will continue to grow together in prosperity.”
