Prospective homeowners craving a river view should take note, as a new subdivision with 10 riverfront lots is opening in the RM of Headingley.

Bob Schinkel, CEO of Schinkel Properties, said on March 13 that the company and municipality are finalizing a development agreement that will allow the Blumberg Trail development to proceed.
Located directly east of Blumberg Park, at the end of the existing Blumberg Trail, the development will be constructed in two phases. Schinkel said the first phase includes the riverside lots as well as 43 lots for single-family homes.

He expects that work on this phase will begin in the next few months.

The second phase of the development could contain multi-family homes, Schinkel said.

The development will contain pedestrian and cycling trails.

Although the City of Winnipeg has discussed selling John Blumberg Golf Course, Schinkel said he doesn’t expect this possibility will impact his company’s development, as sale of the city-owned softball complex and soccer fields haven’t been linked in with the golf course discussion.
