About halfway through the season, the Twisters are tied for second place with the Stonewall Jets in the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League. They beat the first-place Charleswood Hawks 4-3 in a close game on Nov. 13. (The result of a Nov. 25 home game in Morris against the Transcona Railer Express wasn’t available at press time.)

Twisters’ forward Fraser Mirlees, from Sanford, topped league scoring with 24 points as of Nov. 24.

“Fraser’s a big part of our team. He’s definitely one of our hardest working players,” Dyck said.
He added that forwards Bryce Dusik, from Oak Bluff, and Steve Young, from La Salle, as well as defenseman Chad Millar, from Oak Bluff, are all strong contributors.

Dyck was named head coach earlier this season. He has extensive experience as a player, including time with the MJHL’s Winkler Flyers and Swan Valley Stampeders. His coaching experience includes a stint as an assistant coach with the Twisters in their inaugural season and as an assistant coach of the Southeast Prairie Thunder from 2011-13, which included an Allan Cup championship.

The Twisters’ next home game is on Fri., Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. against the Fort Garry/Fort Rouge Twins in the Morris Recreation Complex.
