Rick Van Wyk was voted in as St. Francois Xavier reeve, receiving 401 votes, nearly double the 208 votes cast for former reeve Dwayne Clark.

Clark, who was elected in 2014, resigned as reeve on Aug. 3 in part to protest the sudden dismissal of former CAO Holly Krysko. He decided to run again because he was inspired by the candidates stepping up to run for council seats.

Van Wyk, who was councillor in Ward 2 for two terms, said he’s pleased with the election results and looks forward to working with council to address issues such as providing the network needed for high-speed internet service throughout the municipality.
