Get the kids to sharpen their pencil crayons and brush up on their farm vocabulary.
SAFE Work Manitoba and the Manitoba Farm Safety Program are putting on their joint annual drawing competition.
Manitoban kids ages six through 12 can submit a picture that depicts a safe way of handling a common hazard on farms. Artists can choose from one of four topics — livestock, grain, farm equipment or chemicals. The goal is to expose youth to safe farm practices, according to a SAFE Work Manitoba news release.
All applicants will have their names put in a draw for an iPad; selected drawings will be featured in next year’s Farm Safety calendar.
The contest runs until Fri., April 16. The prize draw will take place on Mon., May 3.
Folks can order posters and crayons, and get entry forms, by contacting SAFE Work Manitoba at contest@safeworkmanitoba.ca or 1-855-957-7233. Entries must be mailed to the company’s offices at 16-363 Broadway St.
SAFE Work Manitoba will send one package per organization.
