Baby & Kids Show features information, entertainment for the whole family

Expectant parents and young families can take in seminars, discover the newest offerings in baby and toddler products and enjoy some great family entertainment all under one roof at this weekend’s Winnipeg Baby & Kids Show.
 
Produced by Showtime Productions and presented by Sears, this year’s event takes place Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 25 and 26) at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. This marks the seventh year for the Winnipeg Baby & Kids Show and just as babies and children do, the show continues to grow.

“We’ve added more booths and some new features this year,” show manager Sherri Rheubottom says.

One of the new features is the ‘Moms Pampering Lounge,’ presented courtesy of local company Purely Baby. Moms who visit the lounge can enjoy mini-manicures, massage demonstrations and even take home gift bags for home pampering.

As in previous years, families will have an opportunity to learn about everything from diapers to nutrition at the show’s exhibitor booths. Daily seminars will also be presented and will include “Preparing for Baby, Bump, and Beyond” presented by Purely Baby, “Infant Massage – Connect with your Baby Through Nurturing Touch” by Fit 4 Two Pre/Postnatal Fitness, and “Moms – How to Stay Fit & Healthy” by Robyn Chubey. Seminars are included with show admission.

Popular children’s entertainers The Backyardigans, who have been big draws in previous years, are back. The Backyardigans will perform daily on the mainstage at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Children can also meet their favourite Backyardigans performers at Meet and Greets presented daily at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Henry’s will be taking photos and families will be able to go to the Henry’s booth at the show to receive a free 4 x 6 copy of their photo.

 Youngsters can also enjoy a wide array of other entertainment offerings at this year’s show, ranging from arts & crafts in the onsite Activity Centre to fun in the McDonald’s Play Zone & Baby Play Zone.
 The Family Safety Zone will feature an opportunity to learn about a variety of safety-related topics, ranging from fire safety to CPR. Children aged four to seven will also have an opportunity to learn about safety and driving at the MPI Mini Car Town which will feature a child-sized town complete with roads, traffic signs, pedestrian and railway crossings and a traffic light. Car seat and bicycle safety information will also be available.

 Tickets to the Winnipeg Baby & Kids Show are $10 for adults. Children age 12 and younger are admitted free. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster at 1-855-985-5000, at ticketmaster.ca and are also available at the door. Purchase of tickets in advance is recommended to avoid lineups. Ticket price includes main stage entertainment, meet and greets, seminars, gift bags and all activities at the show.
 A variety of prizes, including hourly door prizes and Winnipeg Jets tickets will also be presented.
 Strollers are allowed at the show, but smaller strollers are suggested.
