Club Regent Casino opens new entertainment venue

It’s been several  years in the making, but visitors of Club Regent Casino can now experience the facility’s new 23,000-square-foot Event Centre.

The facility was designed to be a state-of-the-art, multi-functioning venue and has replaced the former Bingo Bowl area which had doubled as the entertainment area.

“With the push of a button the centre can be configured in a multitude of ways intended to suit many different kinds of events,” said Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Director of Strategic Communications Karen Hiebert. “Everything from classic music concerts, to trade shows, symposiums, and private banquets and parties.”

The venue will now offer three different kinds of seating styles as well.

“The centre has a capacity of 1,400 guests in theatre style; up to about 700 people can be accommodated in the cabaret style and there’s banquet seating for up to 600 guests,” said Hiebert. “There are all kinds of options depending on the needs of the event and it’s really flexible. We’re really pleased that we are able to bring it to life.”

Hiebert said the upgrade happened so Club Regent Casino could offer a more all-inclusive experience to its visitors.

“Industry trends in the casino entertainment business across Canada really show that providing guests with an all-inclusive experience is really important to them,” said Hiebert. “It’s what many people are seeking when they come to visit a venue like Club Regent. It means that our guests can now enjoy a beautiful show in a gorgeous venue, play some of their favourite games, partake in a wonderful meal, and also utilize the hotel amenities for overnight stays if that’s what they’d like to do.”

Since October, 15 performances have been held at the Event Centre from artists such as 3 Doors Down, Big & Rich, Huey Lewis and the News, Pat Benatar, and celebrity chef Robert Irvine. Upcoming acts include Howie Mandel, Bret Michaels, and rocker-turned-country artist Dallas Smith.

The hope is to attract a broader range of entertainment from the North American casino circuit and add to Winnipeg’s entertainment scene.

“We certainly aren’t trying to compete with other venues (such as the Burton
Cummings Theatre),” said Hiebert. “We want to add to the entertainment options for Winnipeggers and one of the goals associated with the construction of the venue was that we’d now be able to accommodate the larger acts that need a certain amount of space.”

Hiebert said they are all excited for the new change and have been receiving great feedback from the community too.

“It’s been very well received. There have been a lot of happy people — a lot of happy faces, said Hiebert. “It’s a very unique facility that puts Club Regent and Winnipeg on the map,” said Hiebert. “We now have a place that expands on our vibrant entertainment scene that Winnipeg is already known for. There are lots of good things coming.”
