Sometimes you can never have enough books.
The Children’s Hospital Book Market’s recent three-day sale at St. Vital Centre broke a new sales record. raising a final total of $112,367.
In fact, it was so successful that organizers are running low on books for upcoming sales.
Tanya Williams, the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba’s director of marketing and communications, told The Lance the organization is gratefully accepting new or gently-used books that can be dropped off at any City of Winnipeg fire hall “as soon as possible.”
“These books will be used in the annual book market sales, where all the proceeds benefit the Children’s Hospital of Manitoba, the Children’s Hospital Book Corner, CHTV — the internal hospital TV station, and the Children’s Hospital Family Resource Centre,” Williams said. “We greatly appreciate your support.”
Established in 1961, the market is the longest-running fundraiser in support of the CHFM. Since its inception, it has raised around $7 million for child health care in the province. This year’s remaining book markets will be run from April 26 to May 3, and Sept. 25 to 28.
Potential donators should bear in mind that some items are not accepted by the book market.
