One of the province’s key cultural organizations is preparing to hold a gala event to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
The centenary gala of the Alliance Française du Manitoba will be held on Thurs., Oct. 29 in the Crystal Ballroom at the Hotel Fort Garry (222 Broadway). Guests will include Nicolas Chapuis, Ambassador of France to Canada, and Premier Greg Selinger.
Organizers say the gala — which will also be attended by the alliance’s numerous friends and supporters and be a nod to the generations of volunteers who have contributed to its creation, development and sustainability — is a significant component of this year’s program of events that have been held to mark the centenary, which have included events related to theatre, photography, cinema, visual arts, music and poetry.
On the menu for the gala is a gourmet dinner, wines from France, cultural exhibitions, musical performances, dancing and some surprises.
The alliance is based at 934 Corydon Ave. For more information, go online at www.afmanitoba.ca or call 204-477-1515.
