Ginette Lavack Walters will be the new executive director of the Centre culturel franco-manitobain.
The appointment was made public on Aug. 16, when it was announced Lavack Walters would be stepping down from her current position as executive director of Festival du Voyageur.
According to a news release, Lavack Walters — who has been part of the Festival team since July 2010 — will step down from the organization on Sept. 15, and begin her new position at CCFM on Sept. 18.
“My experience as executive director of the Festival du Voyageur was extremely enriching and I feel very privileged to have been able to meet and work with so many incredible people,” said Lavack Walters in the news release.
“My departure is bittersweet, for the festival and this organization are very dear to me. But I am relieved that they are in the hands of a strong and dedicated team and a very committed board of directors.”
In the same release, Festival’s board president, Simon Normandeau, said the organization has grown significantly under Lavack Walters’ stewardship, not least because of her passion, leadership and vision.
“For the past seven years, Ginette has been the voice and the face of Festival,” Normandeau said. “Her passion, as well as her great leadership, lead Festival to new heights.”
Organizers say the board has now begun the search to succeed Lavack Walters.
