There’s a new “one-stop shop” for financial services in St. Vital.

Crescent Financial Group is an independent broker for insurance and investment solutions that just moved into the neighbourhood. From its newest office at 501 St. Mary’s Rd., Crescent will offer in-house mortgage brokering, tax preparation, bookkeeping and general insurance services for both residences and commercial entities.

Managing partner Kevin Harold said that, regardless of what stage clients are at in life, the Crescent Financial team of experts can assist with the right recommendations and products to suit their needs. They are able provide comprehensive advice about wealth accumulation, debt management, and retirement income planning to name a few.

“With mounting debt levels and an extended low-interest-rate environment, it is important to be disciplined with your financial affairs,” he said.

“It is the decisions that you make today that lay the path for your financial future and the lifestyle choices you are able to make in retirement.

“Unfortunately we see far too many people that are not getting the advice they need or they are too afraid to seek out advice before it’s too late as they are embarrassed about their situation and don’t feel they have any choices.”

Crescent Financial operates in five communities in Manitoba, the oldest of which is in Souris. The original business, Kirkup Agencies, was established in 1958 by Bill Kirkup who, at age 84, still comes in to the office every day to visit with his longtime clients and friends.

Harold and his two partners took over that business and own several others, with locations in Brandon, Pilot Mound, Crystal City and Winnipeg.

The company has a lot of history in the sector and the wealth of knowledge has been passed on. It’s this team approach that has allowed the company to grow its business to serve thousands of Manitobans.

And Crescent Financial plans to grow even more. Harold said it’s in the midst of expanding in to another rural Manitoba community, likely before the end of the year.

“We are a locally owned business that takes pride in immersing ourselves in the communities we are a part of. We have a great team and are eager to help all Manitobans regardless of age,” he said.

“We hope to see many of the local Old St Vital residents in our office if nothing else to say hello.

“We are a community-based business and look forward to finding ways to contribute and meeting our neighbours!”
