The St. Vital Minor Hockey Association will be holding an Ice Breaker Weekend event from Thurs., Nov. 7 to Sun., Nov. 10.

According to a news release, Hockey Fights Cancer initiative was founded in 1998 by the NHL and the National Hockey League Players’ Association, and is intended to unite the hockey community in support of cancer patients and their families.

Organizers say the upcoming event will be held in the spotlight of the initiative and feature a number of local teams that will “all stand with Canadian Cancer Society to raise money for life-saving research, cancer support services, and transportation” offered by the society.
