Motorists will notice new safety features on two of the eastside’s busiest intersections.

Two new advance yellow warning lights were recently installed at northbound Lagimodière Boulevard at Regent Avenue West, and eastbound Bishop Grandin Boulevard at St. Mary’s Road. The upgrades cost a total of $38,100 and were funded from the City’s Traffic Engineering Improvement program. According to a release, the lights start flashing 7.2 seconds before the lights change from green to amber, giving motorists more warning time.

“I first made a motion requesting lights like this on Bishop Grandin Boulevard, in July, 2018,” Coun. Brian Mayes (St. Vital), pictured above, said in the statement. “I am relieved to see this set of warning lights finally in place and in use.”
